I am part of the Climate and Bioenergy research group. The group uses field experimentation and modelling to study the consequences of climate change on agriculture, the emissions of greenhouse gasses from agricultural systems and energy production from agricultural sources.
Research areas
Modelling the production and environmental impact of livestock systems:
I am one of the team developing the FASSET farm-scale model of production and nutrient flows.
Current projects
NitroEurope - a large integrated EU project studying N cycling at plot, landscape and European scales.
CLEANWASTE – a Danish Strategic Research Council project that investigates the potential of a range of technologies to generate energy and reduce environmental emissions from manure management systems.
Policy advice and related activities
I am one of the co-chairs of the Agriculture and Nature Panel of the Task Force on Emission Inventories and Projections (TFEIP). TFEIP provides scientific support for the UN Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution (CLRTP). The main function of the Agriculture and Nature Panel is to maintain the relevant chapters of the EMEP/CORINAIR Emission Inventory Guidebook.
I am a member of the Task Force on Reactive Nitrogen (TFRN) and of its Expert Panel on Mitigation of Agricutural Nitrogen (EPMAN): The TFRN also provides scientific support for the UN Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution (CLRTP).
I am involved in the maintenance and development of the systems for calculating Danish ammonia emissions and ensuring compliance with the EU Nitrates Directive.
I am part of the EAGER group, that aims to improve and harmonise ammonia emission inventories.
